A P.E.I. man who was convicted of dangerous driving and unlawful confinement is appealing his sentence.
James Addison Nunn, 47 of Crapaud, was sentenced to one year in jail following an incident in February in which a 16-year-old boy was held in the back of a van and taken on a high-speed chase.
Nunn was attempting to recover money he had given the boy's friend to buy marijuana.
In his appeal, filed Monday in P.E.I. Supreme Court, Nunn claimed he did not receive a fair sentence because he could not afford a lawyer and chose to represent himself in court. Nunn believes he would have received a lighter sentence if he had pleaded guilty rather than fight the charges.
