Immanuel Christian School moving to stand-alone building
Private school could expand into providing grades 10-12
One of P.E.I.'s few private schools is moving into a new, stand-alone location.
Six families have joined together to purchase the former Kent building on Allen Street in Charlottetown, and will lease a large portion of the building to Immanuel Christian School. The building is three times the size of the current location in Spring Park Church on Kirkwood Drive.
Principal Matthew Mann told CBC News the school's enrolment has doubled in the past few years, and administrators have been looking for an appropriate new location for years.
"This is now going to keep us from having to turn people away, and it gives us the option of opening grades 10, 11 and 12 as soon as we can organize it," said Mann.
Renovations will start soon. Plans are to be moved in by September of this year.
