Hospital garden provides 'hope for life' for patients
Garden at Prince County Hospital is maintained by large group of volunteers
A garden at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside, P.E.I. has grown over the last decade to provide a special kind of respite for patients and their families.
All the plants, benches, bird feeders and other materials are donated, and it is maintained by a group of 50 volunteers.
Yvon Arsenault has been helping out since it started 10 years ago.
"If you're in one of these rooms, and you're not feeling too good, and you see a flower grow or a bird come in, or whatever, to me, it's hope for life," said Arsenault.
"It gives them a little change of scenery. The patients and their families really enjoy coming out here. It's a place to come and sit down and think or read a book."
