Some travel companies on P.E.I. say they've seen an increase in bookings due to this winter's bad weather.

Andrea Carr-McNeill, director of marketing for The Travel Store, can't say exactly how much business has increased, but she said many of the hot spot resorts are filling up faster than usual.

"We kind of laugh about it around the office," said Carr-MacNeill.

"With so much snow this December, people that were on the fence as far as travelling were very quick to make that decision earlier this year to say we're out of here."

Sunwing, a tour operator and offers direct flights south from Charlottetown, does have numbers. It says there has been a more than five per cent increase in bookings out of P.E.I.
