The Green Party of P.E.I. put forward some ideas on health care Wednesday, specifically health promotion and illness prevention.

The party said it would commit two per cent of the health care budget, or about $10 million, to get Islanders living healthier lifestyles.

"Meditation and yoga, for sure, should be free to everybody, because they are so effective at preventing illness," said Green Party Leader Sharon Labchuk.

"We would like to see acupuncture and massage therapy and chiropractic — those proven alternative health therapies — brought in to the health insurance plan."

Labchuk said the party would also tax items they say aren't good for people or the environment, including junk food, gas and fertilizers.
