Green Gables in Cavendish and Province House in Charlottetown are some of the Parks Canada sites on Prince Edward Island that can now be toured virtually from anywhere in the world.
It’s part of a larger project by Parks Canada and Google Maps in which the Internet giant is displaying images of Canadian hiking trails and historic places using its popular Google Street View.
Google Maps spent the summer taking video and pictures at 70 locations across the country, including six on P.E.I.
"It's really amazing," said Barbara MacDonald with Parks Canada on P.E.I.
"It's just an amazing technology, so we're really hoping that it will help potential visitors learn more about the national park and our national historic sites and that it will entice them to come, or enable them to learn more about these places."
