People in eastern P.E.I. will grieve the loss of three teenagers killed in a fire early Saturday morning in Charlottetown at three funerals this week.
The funeral for 15-year-old Brandon MacKinnon of St. Teresa is Wednesday at 2 p.m. the All Saints Catholic Church in Cardigan.
Montague Intermediate School will have morning classes Wednesday, and grief counsellors will be at the school to help students and staff. The school will close at 11:45 a.m., and buses will transport students home to allow staff and students to attend MacKinnon's funeral.
The funeral for 19-year-old Joseph Allison Reeves of Montague is Thursday at Church of Christ in Montague at 2 p.m., and 15-year-old Kenneth Irving's funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ferguson Logan Funeral Home Chapel in Montague. Irving's service will be streamed on the funeral home's website.
A song written in memory of the teenagers has been shared hundreds of times on Facebook.
Carolyn Chandler is a former student of the schools the three attended. Although she didn't know them, Chandler wrote she wanted to express the emotions people in the community are struggling with since the tragedy.
"I needed a way to share my emotions about 'the guys' who died far too early," Chandler wrote.
"I didn't know you all personally but PEI's a small place. You are worth more than you know and you will be greatly missed."
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, and the events that led to the tragedy.
