Fry truck burns in Maine
A P.E.I. tractor trailer carrying 18,000 kilograms of French fries from the Cavendish Farms plant in New Annan caught fire during transit Wednesday night.
An Irving official says the accident is still under investigation, and the company is pleased no one was injured.
The Midland truck driver smelled burning while driving through Maine on his way to New Jersey. He pulled over in a parking lot and escaped.
The load of fries and truck were destroyed.
A fire chief at the scene believes the fire started from overheated brakes, but that has not been confirmed.
