Food bank hopes drive will replenish shelves
Upper Room Food Bank's inventory low after 'busy' winter, spring
The Tim Hortons food drive this weekend couldn't come at a better time, said Mike MacDonald, manager of the Upper Room Food Bank in Charlottetown.
Volunteers will be at store locations Friday and Saturday accepting non-perishable food donations.
"We have had a busy winter and a busy spring and our inventory levels are pretty low," said MacDonald.
"So we're really hoping that this will work out well for us and ensure that we are able to fulfill the need throughout the summer."
Some of the most needed items are canned meats and fish, rice, peanut butter and Cheese Whiz, MacDonald said.
