Fire ripped through a house east of Charlottetown Tuesday morning.

No one was home when the fire broke out. The four family members are all accounted for.

Officials with the Crossroads Fire Department say the call came in just before noon. The inside of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The single storey home is located at the corner of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Mount Herbert Road.

The provincial fire marshal is investigating the cause.
