Fire destroys house in Belmont
No one home when blaze broke out
Fire destroyed a single family home in Belmont, P.E.I. Thursday afternoon.
Someone driving by the house noticed the flames and called 911.
No one was home when the fire broke out.
"When we arrived, the farm-style house was fully involved. We called in the Wellington and Summerside fire departments for water shuttle services," said Jason Woodbury, chief of the Miscouche Fire Department.
"The fire was up in the roof, which posed to make it a little bit more challenging because of the older age of the building and the structure of it, it took a while to extinguish it."
Woodbury describes the damage as extensive. He doesn't think the house can be restored.
The provincial fire marshal is investigating the cause.
