Ex-MLA calls for byelection after Perry defection
The Liberal MLA defeated by Hal Perry, who crossed the floor from Progressive Conservatives to the Liberals on Thursday, is calling for a byelection.
Neil LeClair, who was fisheries minister in the Liberal government, lost his seat in the western P.E.I. district of Tignish-Palmer Road in 2011 to Perry, then a Tory, by just 33 votes.
Perry is now a Liberal, and LeClair says Perry should quit and a byelection should be held for the seat.
LeClair did not say whether he'd attempt the Liberal nomination if a byelection was held.
