1,150 musicians sought place in Charlottetown showcase
More than 75 acts from across Atlantic Canada will take part in the East Coast Music Awards celebrations this April.
The awards will be held during East Coast Music Week in Charlottetown.
“The calibre of talent being showcased at Eastlink East Coast Music Week 2014 is spectacular, and this is just the beginning of our programming announcements,” said Heather Gibson, chairwoman of the board. “Charlottetown will have a front row seat for these incredible performers from across Atlantic Canada.”
Some 1,150 musicians applied to perform and juries selected the top artists.
Robert Henderson, minister for tourism and culture, said P.E.I. had lucked out in hosting this year's event.
"Not only does it make a fantastic addition to the 2014 celebrations and the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, but it also showcases the tremendous talent that calls this region home,” he said.
Performers include Erin Costelo, Mary Jane Lamond & Wendy MacIsaac, Jenn Grant and many others. The ECMA site lists all of the performers.
