Drive-in delivers canteen orders with new app
Canteen items at Brackley Drive-In can be ordered on-line and delivered to vehicle
The owner of P.E.I.'s Brackley Drive-In theatre is now offering a menu app to customers who don't want to walk to the canteen during the movie.
Bob Boyle said the service began about two weeks ago through a deal with an app developer company called Venuemenu. Once the app is downloaded, customers just select the drive-in option.
"It will ask you what parking spot you are at and all of the drive-in posts now are numbered," said Boyle.
"So you would select that I'm in row B, number 10. Then you have basically access to our full menu. You select the items that you would like delivered to your car and then it comes to the check out screen. All payment is done through the phone."
"I do have an electric golf cart that I go around and deliver the food that way."
The app developer charges a convenience fee of about 10 per cent.
Boyle said the drive-in is averaging from six to 10 deliveries a night so additional staff have not yet been required.
Boyle offers a similar service for the canteen at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
