Quick action by daycare staff in eastern P.E.I. saved some children from a runaway car Wednesday, say RCMP.

Daycare workers were out walking with several children from a daycare in Montague. As they crossed a parking lot near Main Street, an unattended vehicle at the gas pumps began to roll.

The daycare staff and children were in its path. Police say the staff reacted quickly to get the kids out of the way. Two children were taken to the Kings County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

It is not known why the vehicle began to roll. RCMP said they don't anticipate charges, but the investigation is ongoing.
