North River firefighters battled four separate blazes this weekend.
A cottage caught fire and was destroyed near Rocky Point in Cumberland, while a house burned in Cornwall.
"We got a call at 10:27 this morning of a house on fire in Cornwall," fire chief Kirby Wakelin said. "We responded with all trucks again and probably 20 to 25 firefighters. There was heavy smoke coming out of the top-story windows."
It was only after the fire was extinguished that they discovered the house was abandoned. Nobody was in the cottage when it ignited.
Fire crews also fought two brush and grass fires in the area.
There is no word yet on the causes of either of the structure fires.
