The Prince Edward Island government is looking for more volunteers to patrol the Confederation Trail system this summer.

Volunteers hand out maps and give information to trail users, and also work with conservation officers on the lookout for illegal activities, such as people riding ATVs and dirt bikes.

"I just think that we have one of the best trails in probably North America for cyclists and hikers," says Tourism Minister Robert Henderson.

"And we want to try to promote this and make sure that people have a real enjoyable experience when they use the Confederation Trail in Prince Edward Island."

There are currently about 25 volunteers. Islanders can sign up by contacting the Department of Tourism and Culture at 902-394-1645 or by emailing redelong@gov.pe.ca.
