P.E.I. filmmaker Mille Clarkes is this year's winner of the CBC 3-2-1 award. The win provides $3,000 towards Clarkes' next film. Clarkes said the story line for the new project will force her to stretch out of her comfort zone.
"It's about two characters in a small town: a young woman who is convinced she has a curse because everyone she's ever known and loved has died, and a young man who sort of desires to die or end his life but he can't make it happen, so he decides to befriend her in the hopes that the curse will turn upon him," she said.
Clarkes expects to shoot the film this fall on the Island. It will premiere next year during the Island Media Arts Festival awards gala.
In addition to the CBC 3-2-1 award, Clarkes also won the William F. White Filmmaker of the Year Award.
