The City of Charlottetown has put out a request for proposals to create a comprehensive plan for Victoria Park.

Sue Fraser, manager of parks and recreation for the city, said there are many questions surrounding the park that need to be settled.

"What kinds of events should be held there, what kinds of programming should be held there, the passive versus the active recreation balance piece, the ecological sustainability of the park," said Fraser.

"All these things are coming into play and everyone has an opinion on it. We really need to get consensus built in the form of a formal plan, so that we can put some of this stuff to rest."

The plan will look at the purpose for the park and provide a management strategy for the city. Fraser said there will be public consultation.

Council has already commissioned studies to outline plans for the rest of the waterfront.
