Summerside began posting its own figures last week. One of the councillors who'd like Charlottetown to do the same is Cecil Villard, chair of the city's administrative services committee.

"Making this information public I think reassures the community that we not only believe in transparency, but we'll demonstrate that through making sure this information is available to them," said Villard.

Villard said he's brought the topic up before, and he'll put it on the agenda for the next meeting of the administrative services committee. He doesn't think disclosure will be a problem as he believes there's broad support on council for the move.

Currently travel expenses for councillors are provided by city hall on request.
