The establishment of the group was a recommendation of the mayor's task force on arts and culture, which presented its final report in 2013. The volunteer board is charged with making recommendations to the city about arts and culture activities and programs.

"The arts and culture industry can serve as a tremendous economic generator, especially in the downtown area," said Lee.

"This allows us to further that discussion."

The members of the new advisory board are:

  • Spencer Campbell, Chair.
  • Maria Driscoll.
  • Erroll Monkley.
  • John Morris.
  • Claire Nantes.
  • Mark Sandiford.
  • Darrin White.

The board will report to Charlottetown's economic development and culture committee.
