Camille Labchuk is running in Toronto's Trinity-Spadina riding as the Green Party candidate.

Prince Edward Island's Camille Labchuk is running for the Green Party in a federal byelection Monday in Toronto's Trinity-Spadina riding.

Labchuk, the daughter of the former leader of the P.E.I. Green Party Sharon Labchuk, is now a lawyer focusing on criminal defense and animal rights law.

"Well I think growing up with an environmentalist mother, gave me a pretty strong political conscience from day one," said Labchuk.

"I was home-schooled, so I spent a lot of time with my mother going to political meetings, campaign meetings with Earth Action and Eco-PEI … and I want to carry on that work now in my professional life."

Four federal byelections take place Monday, two in Ontario and two in Alberta.
