Prince Edward Islander Camille Labchuk is running in an upcoming federal byelection in Toronto representing the Green Party.

Labchuk, the daughter of Island environmental activist Sharon Labchuk, is a lawyer, animal rights advocate and environmental activist. She said she is looking forward to giving back to the city she's called home for many years.

The byelection in Trinity-Spadina scheduled for June 30. Green Party Leader Elizabeth May said Labchuk is "brilliant and incredibly hardworking."

Labchuk was part of a Green Party rally at the University of Toronto Friday night.
