One of the largest independent book stores east of Montreal is on the market.

The Bookmarks in Charlottetown and Halifax are for sale one year after the death of their owner, Rodney Jones.

The stores were left to Jones's daughters.

Rodney's brother, Larry Jones, said the family would like to see the facilities to remain bookstores.

“We're looking for somebody who can come the store with some ideas, imagination and energy to carry the store on for another 40 years,” he said.

Jones said there is already interest in the businesses.

He's meeting with potential buyers next week.
