RCMP are awaiting results of an autopsy done Monday on a body that was found in a marshy area near the Hurry Road area of Charlottetown Sunday afternoon.

"Yesterday afternoon at 1:30, the Charlottetown City Police received a call of a body which was found on the shoreline near the end of the Hurry Road in Charlottetown," RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Leanne Butler told CBC News Monday.

"The file has been turned over to the RCMP and it was attended by the forensic services of the city police and the RCMP as well as the coroner's office. Well, that is our main priority right now, to try to identify who the person is."

The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP will release more information as it becomes available, said Butler.
