An RCMP search of two homes in Emyvale, P.E.I. Monday evening resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and cash and the arrest of three people.

During the drug busts, police found cocaine, crack, hashish, marijuana, 700 Dilaudid pills, 200 methodone pills and about $20,000.

Officers also seized other drug paraphernalia.

Two men and one woman were arrested.

Police believe the three were involved in the same operation.

"It is a significant drug seizure for the province of Prince Edward Island," said RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Blackadar.

"And it's something certainly the public has been complaining about, the trafficking in pills. That has become a big issue for the RCMP and Islanders. There is a lot of trafficking on the Island in respect to pills."

Dean John Fairhurst of Riverdale Road in Emyvale has been charged with trafficking. He was on parole at the time of the arrest and appeared in court Tuesday. He will remain in custody until his next appearance on April 17.

The other two adults have been released and will appear in court at a later date.
