2014 celebrations receive more cash from province
The Island’s 2014 celebrations received a big cash infusion from the provincial government that will help pay for the event and also some of the renovations at the Confederation Centre.
The P.E.I. government has committed another $6.6 million to the celebrations and renovations, bringing the total funding from the province to about $8.7 million. More funding is expected to be announced as the celebration draws closer.
The federal government has also announced that it will provide more than $2 million.
The Island-wide event is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, which ushered in Canadian Confederation.
