200 gather to protest 'Plan B' highway project
Protestors were calling it the 'death of democracy'
About 200 gathered in front of P.E.I.'s Legislature Saturday afternoon to express outrage over how the province is handling people's opposition to the Trans-Canada Highway realignment project.
Friday four people were charged with trespassing as they tried to block harvesting equipment from clearing trees for the new stretch of road.
Saturday's demonstration was dubbed, "the death of democracy."
Both people vying to become the next leader of the provincial NDP were there.
Mike Redmond and Trevor Leclerc took a break from their party's convention Saturday in Charlottetown to attend the protest.
