Two Island watering holes are vying to be named the best bar in Canada.

Both Hunters Ale House and Baba's Lounge are based in Charlottetown.

They were nominated alongside 123 other bars from across the country in Canada's favourite bars contest. The winners will be announced in the December edition of Air Canada's enRoute magazine. It's co-sponsered by Rickard's beer.

Baba’s owner Ryan Abdallah says the bar is reaching out through social media to get as many votes as possible.

“It's great. I mean, it's nice to know that people are thinking about us and happy that we're doing the best we can. Yeah, I mean, we'd love to have that title, but we're going to keep doing what we've been doing since 1991 and doing the best at promoting original, live music in Charlottetown and representing local bands,” he said.

People can go online to vote for their favourite.

As of Sunday, both Baba's and Hunters were in the top 50 favourite bars.
