An 18-year-old man from Summerside, P.E.I. faces charges following a hit and run Wednesday afternoon on Water Street East.
No one was hurt in the accident, but one vehicle was seriously damaged.
Police said the incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. near Waugh's Food Mart. A vehicle stopped behind a school bus was hit by a truck.
"A 1992 GMC truck was exiting the parking lot. When it did it actually hit the passenger side of a Subaru," said deputy police chief Sinclair Walker.
"What happened then is the driver of the GMC fled the scene. Fortunately, there was a witness on the scene who identified the driver. The driver was later arrested and charges are now pending."
The driver of the truck faces a charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident. Police said they were able to track him down because he had a vanity licence plate.
