A renowned Maritime musician, bandleader and CBC personality has died.

Don Warner passed away Saturday in Halifax. He was 76.

Warner's trumpet and bandleading skills took him to Toronto, Montreal and New York.

In the 1950s, he returned to Halifax and became a major player in the city's social and entertainment scene.

Don Warner is known to many as a long-time CBC Radio Two host, or as it used to be called, CBC Stereo.

He hosted and produced two programs, "Warner's Waxworks" and "Jazzland."
