Mr. Coderre, Don't Make Me Angry. You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry...

"For every action, there are consequences. I'm very clear about that. Mr. Coderre is very clear about that." -- Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, ahead of today's no-confidence vote and his former Quebec lieutenant's scheduled weekend appearance on Radio-Canada's Tout Le Monde En Parle.

UPDATE: Turns out Coderre's TLMEP appearance is being taped this evening for airing on Sunday, which could present one of those can't-be-interviewed-and-still-cast-no-confidence-vote-at-the-same-time problems that happens every day in Ottawa.

Our Radio-Canada colleagues tell us the massively popular variety/talk show usually begins taping around 6:30 p.m. in Montreal and goes on for several hours. Most high-profile politicians request -- if not demand outright -- to be interviewed at the beginning and hang out for the duration of the taping.

This leaves Denis with precious little time to cast a no-confidence vote at 5:15, then high-tail it to the studio for the start of the show, unless he's travelling by tricked-out DeLorean.

UPDATE TO UPDATE: So much for the DeLorean theory. Coderre's office says he's not in Ottawa today and won't be attending the vote. A staffer says he's in Montreal visiting his ailing father in hospital, something Coderre himself mentioned during his resignation press conference earlier this week. Checking with Chief Opposition Whip's office to find out what's the deal, did he pair his vote with another absent MP, etc.

UPDATE TROIS: Turns out Ignatieff doesn't appear too miffed by Coderre's absence. He tells reporters in French: "You have to have a bit of respect for Tout Le Monde En Parle. I've appeared there twice myself, it's not so bad. It is a Quebec institution."
