The calm before the storm
Chris Rands, CBC News
September is a transition month for many people: back to school, back to work.
Here in the shadow of Parliament Hill its also a time of transition. Bureaus are back to full staff, and the television broadcasts return to the air.
It's just over three working days until the Commons returns. Here is a small photo essay to show the calm before the storm.

The lawn: The ceremonial guard have gone back to school and the lunch time yoga class is back at work. Seagulls perch in the wet grass.

The foyer of the House of Commons: At this time next Monday, Question Period will have just finished. Three cameras positions will be waiting for MPs to come and give their take on the day's events to reporters.

The lobby of the House of Commons: A no-go zone for reporters when the House is in session. Here's a last chance for tour groups to peer into the Commons chamber.

The reading room: The scene of many a Commons committee or government caucus meeting. Right now it's just the murals.
