Name change? What name change?

How did the name change resolution drop off the radar this weekend?

The resolution was number six in the line-up on the Building the Momentum block of votes this morning.

But the first proposal ran seven pages in length.

When one party member asked the convention chair to skip reading the entire text because all delegates have paper copies of the resolution, he was refused.

The reason? That party members watching the convention at home may want to listen to the entire motion. After hearing it myself, I find that highly doubtful.

In any event, what followed was some debate on the first few motions, procedural bickering about preambles, requests for clarification, points of information, abstentions and some tussles over speaking order at the microphones.

This has led many some on the floor to speculate that party members purposely ragged the puck so time will run out before the motion will be heard.

The question now, is why? The first resolution on the name change was simply to put off any decision until the next convention.
