Spending spree!
Just in time for a post-debate spending spree!

James Fitz-Morris
Elections Canada made its quarterly payments to the parties for the allowances they get based on the last election.
Here's what they got for the quarter ending Sept. 30:
Conservative Party of Canada: $2,623,890.17
Liberal Party of Canada: $2,187,074.37
New Democratic Party: $1,264,370.74
Bloc Québécois: $758,350.39
Green Party of Canada: $324,231.20
On election night, it's important to remember that the total number of votes cast for each party is almost as crucial for parties as the number of seats they win.
Elections Canada will base next year's allowances on the number of votes each party gets — the more you get this time, the more money you have for next time.
