As you will know by now Layton talks about kitchen tables — a lot.

But we had never yet seen him at a kitchen table. Dining room tables: yes. Breakfast bars: you bet.

But no kitchen table.

So we arranged to borrow a table and four chairs from the airport and set it up on the tarmac.

Adorning the table, a souvenir for Layton.

A tablecloth purchased for Layton's own kitchen table signed by all the reporters.

It was all waiting for Layton when he arrived.

He sat down and made himself at home — and he seemed a bit overwhelmed.

After all, these are the same reporters that bark questions at him all day long.

Layton thanked the reporters for a great time onboard Kitchen-Air (the nickname for Layton's plane) 2008.
