Nice view of Signal Hill, but no metaphor in sight
It was at Pippy Park today where Jack Layton made his second stop in St. Johns.
The second one because Layton's candidate in St. Johns East, Jack Harris, is polling high regionally and the NDP believes it might, thanks to him, get a seat here in Newfoundland.
Pippy Park also happens to be home to a fantastically beautiful golf course that sits high above St. Johns and has the most beautiful view of Signal Hill.

Layton just happened to be standing near hole number seven — and because political reporters are always looking to for something to analyze and decipher I figured it must mean something.
I fired off an email to our chief political correspondent and avid golfer, one Keith Boag, who would most certainly be able to tell me.
"What does hole seven mean?", I asked, hoping it would give me a line into my story and perhaps a spiffy visual metaphor.
Boag responded promptly, "Sometimes a golf course is just a golf course."
Ah, so true.
