Shift? What shift?
What's the difference between a plank and a foundation?
During an election campaign apparently quite a bit.
Stéphane Dion was campaigning in rural Manitoba on Friday when he was asked if he was moving away from the "central plank" of his platform, the Green Shift.
Dion said he never called it his central plank, he calls the Green Shift the "foundation" of his policy upon which all others are built.
His opponents have taken that to mean that Dion is moving away from the Green Shift.
I must confess that as a reporter, I'm not always sure what it is we're arguing about.
One thing that is easy to watch is that Dion sits in the very first row of the campaign plane.
Taped to the bulkhead right in front of him is a large Green Shift poster.
If Mr. Dion changes seats to move away from the 'Central Poster' of his campaign we'll notify you in this space immediately!
