Quebec artists target Tories
A group of 50 Quebec artists and social activists have come together on the web and YouTube with an anti-Harper message.

Each gives a testimonial for voting against Stephen Harper and the Conservatives. Cuts to arts funding, harsher sentences for youth offenders and the environment are the most popular reasons for their anti-Harper stance.
Also the site encourages people to vote strategically. Their web page offers a way for people to chose candidates who are most likely to beat the local Tory candidate.
A couple of weeks ago, popular singer Michel Rivard also came out with a satirical video mocking what he sees as Harper’s view of culture.
That video was a YouTube hit in Quebec with more than two hundred thousand views.
Until now many artists were reluctant to come out against the Conservatives. The people who produced the Rivard video didn’t want to be identified publicly.
But arts funding and youth sentences have emerged as important issues in Quebec and are believed to be largely responsible for the Conservatives' recent drop in the polls.
This new site lists everyone involved.
