Dion challenged on policy specifics
Liberal leader Stephane Dion had a bumpy ride on the notoriously tough French-language Montreal radio morning talk show 98.5.
Host Paul Arcand wanted specifics on Liberal policies. But aside from the Green Shift, the party has yet to make any major policy announcements. Arcand wanted to know what Dion is going to announce today; what the Liberals plan to do to help Canadians make ends meet when they̓re diagnosed with cancer and don̓t have supplementary health insurance; and how Dion will combat poverty as he promises.
On all counts, Dion assured Arcand the Liberals have generous policies but that he, along with everyone else will have to wait until he formally announces them.
What followed was a good period of on-air bickering over why Dion refused to give specifics. That said, the Liberals are expected to make an announcement today relating to firearms.
