Bloc Ontario?
On a campaign stop in the Montreal riding of Papineau, Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe received signs of support from some unlikely sources.
As his team of Montreal candidates gathered outside a busy campaign office, a delivery truck slowed down to honk abundantly while driving past Duceppe's tour bus. That sort of gesture in and of itself is not so unusual. But the truck in question happened to be a red white and blue Canada Post van.
Then, after his event, Duceppe spent a couple of minutes gladhanding on the busy sidewalk when a man approached him, and in English, introduced himself as a disappointed voter from Ontario.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're not running candidates there, too. You would have my vote," he said.
Duceppe replied, "We need a Bloc Ontario!"
"I think you're the most honest politician in Canada these days," the man from Ontario said.
"Thanks a lot. That goes directly to my heart," Duceppe said, before continuing onto his next campaign stop.
