A theory rises about Quebec City losses
In 2006, the Conservatives shocked the country and the Quebec City region by taking four of the six seats here.
The Bloc is determined to win back the seats but Gilles Duceppe has refused to say how the Bloc's campaign failed last time and what the party plans to do differently this time.
Tonight, though, Christiane Gagnon, one of the two Bloc incumbents had her nomination meeting with Duceppe in attendance and gave her theory about what happened in 2006.
She says Quebec City residents first and foremost wanted to get rid of the Liberals because of the sponsorship scandal. To do that, "Some voted Conservative and some voted Bloc," she told her supporters.
This time, the Bloc is attacking the Conservative MPs, especially Josee Verner, for being ineffectual in Parliament.
The Liberals, who have at times been strong in this region, don't seem to be players this time around.
