Peace pin for Tibet
Tomorrow a delegation of MPs will meet with the Dalai Lama in Ann Arbour, Michigan.
Ken Boshcoff, the Liberal MP on the Tibetan Parliamentary Group, will be presenting a letter from leader Stephane Dion about human rights in China.
Boshcoff will propose an international peace pin to demonstrate support for self-government for Tibet within China.
This idea came to mind when the troubles began and Boshcoff was looking for a way to demonstrate support for Tibet without jeopardizing the Olympics.
"Armbands would be too antagonistic, says Boshcoff, "whereas an understated pin would show solidarity with the Dalai Lama and keeping with his style."
Boshcoff hopes to find out tomorrow if the Dalai Lama is interested.
