Harper ditches question period to take questions
The Prime Minister attended a question period today.
It just wasn't in the House of Commons.
Stephen Harper accompanied his health and agriculture ministers to a news conference this afternoon where they announced the government's new product safety legislation.
The announcement took place in Ottawa at two o'clock, normally the time cabinet ministers arrive in the Commons to take part in the daily question and answer session with the opposition.
It's rare for the prime minister to skip the formal question period.
But today Harper preferred to take questions from reporters.
A signal, perhaps, of the importance he attaches to this proposed legislation intended to improve safety standards for children's toys and drugs.
