Strange bedfellows?
It was quite a sight.
Two Conservative MPs, Kevin Sorenson and Peter Goldring, clamouring to have their picture taken with former Liberal deputy prime minister John Manley.
Both Tory MPs are members of the Commons foreign affairs committee. In fact, Sorenson is the chair. Both were former Canadian Alliance MPs, too, and both are from Liberal-hatin' Alberta.
But Manley is a Conservative star these days, and he was holding court in the Centre Block's famed Railway Room before testifying to the committee about his report on the future of Canada's mission in Afghanistan.
Manley appeared to enjoy the experience, gripping and grinning like the old pro he is.
"You never know what corners you'll turn around," he said.
Indeed.
