Ottawa's Super Tuesday

It is party night for many politicos in the nation's capital this Super Tuesday.

The hill's political junkies are making their plans to sip and sup and sift through the results of the Super Tuesday primaries in the U.S.

This kind of keen political watching happens all the time in the capital, of course, but tonight is not expected to be any kind of all-the-time night and so many are making special arrangements.

Many conservatives are expected to gather at a bar in Ottawa's trendy ByWard market for beer and ribs and results. The invite mentions that CNN and Fox News will feature prominently on the big screen TVs.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will watch at home, channel flipping.

On the Liberal side, a planned reception for the Liberal Party of Canada staff and staffers from the Opposition Leader's Office, may be transformed into an early results watching gathering.

Stephane Dion will attend the bash at the party's new national research bureau and will likely tune in with the gang there before heading home to Stornoway to watch the later results come in.

Another coveted invite is to a soiree in Senator David Smith's office in the centre block. About 50 people are expected to sample wine, cheese and the exciting political story unfolding south of the border.
