Nova Scotia political parties were able to raise slightly less than two million dollars in political contributions last year.

The governing Liberals collected most of that amount with slightly less than seven hundred thousand dollars.

The New Democratic Party raised just more than six hundred thousand dollars, and the Progressive Conservatives more than half a million.

New Democrats garnered the largest contribution from a single source.

Unions affiliated with the United Steel Workers of America gave the party one hundred thousand dollars.

Trade union contributions made up forty per cent of what the party raised last year.
