The party came away with 4.3 per cent of the vote, up from 3 per cent in 2007. It beat the NDP, which had 3.2 per cent.
Green Leader Sharon Labchuk came in third in the district of Charlottetown-Victoria Park, far behind Liberal incumbent Richard Brown.
But Labchuk chose to run against the former environment minister, saying she wanted to "highlight deficiencies" in the government's work in that area.
Despite the loss, Labchuk captured nearly 13 per cent of the popular vote.
The Green party became an official registered party in 2005. Two years later, with 18 candidates, it took 3.04 per cent of the popular vote.
Labchuk, the interim leader at the time, said her goal was simply to establish a Green presence on the Island. The well-known environmentalist took six per cent of the popular vote in Rustico-Emerald — a good showing for a third-place finisher.
The Greens fielded 22 candidates this time.
