Accessibility LinksThe NDP had another fourth-place finish in the P.E.I. election, but improved marginally on its last outing.
The NDP took about 3.2 per cent of the popular vote, compared with the 4.3 per cent claimed by the third-place Greens.
But that was an increase from the two per cent the NDP picked up in 2007. In that election, it fielded 15 candidates, but only 14 this time around.
Leader James Rodd scooped 7.0 per cent of the vote in his district, York-Oyster Bed.
The NDP has never had much electoral success on P.E.I., electing only one MLA in its history. Party Leader Herb Dickieson served in West Point-Bloomfield from 1996 to 2000.
