Paul MacEwan on the mend

The family of Cape Breton Liberal MLA Paul MacEwan says the veteran politician's condition is improving.

MacEwan's son Richard confirms his father suffered a brain aneurysm while skating in Halifax on Tuesday. After his fall on the ice, MacEwan also suffered head injuries.

The family says it's optimistic he'll make a full recovery. Richard MacEwan says his father is not in a coma but is sedated as part of his treatment. He is also being monitored for pneumonia.

MacEwan has served in the legislature as the member for Cape Breton Nova since 1970.
